HAHAH, imagine going to school.
Well, I can't laugh for too long because we are actually going to school, an elementary school.
Soňa!! U didn't say it was an elementary school! (We still love you dw)
With all that said, let's dive in!
We started by a small breakfast that consisted of one banana per person, then, because of our genius idea of renting a bike we had to go early in the morning to Koge from our hometown Strøby Egede (around 7 kilometres) to give it back. From there on we went by train to Nyborg, where the school is located.
Nyborg Friskole is a creative and ambitious school, inspired by the Danish free school tradition, which was created by Grundtvig and Kold. Here, the children are the most important thing. We want and work every day to equip and educate the students for an active life in society's communities. We work to ensure that the children gain experience, learning and wisdom, which enables them to make important decisions for their own lives.
This is what the school says about itself and we can only agree. We were immediately met by Stefan, an English teacher with whom we had really great talk and he showed us around the school. The principal Jesper Vognsgaard was spot on! Friendly, smiling and always happy to answer our questions. Not like some other principal...
If we were to compare our system to theirs it is very similar, except I do have a feeling theirs is a bit easier. When we tried some test from Math from 9th graders, it felt like a test from 7th grade, maybe it's just our delusion.
We wanted to participate in the P.E. but at the same time our train to Copenhagen was coming so unfortunately we had to leave early.
Still, a big thank you to Nyborg Friskole! Your school is cool and so is Stefan!
In Copenhagen we went on a little shopping spree. I finally found some unique things for my family and so did the others.
I would like to left this little space to wish my mom happy birthday, love you, hope you have a resplendent day! You are the best!
End of chapter 9.
